Language and Religion

Language of the people of Tabriz is Azeri-Turkish.

Azeri-Turkish from philological point of view is among Oral-Altaic languages, with strong lexicon and grammar.

With having roots in Ilamian and Sumerian languages Azeri-Turkish is counted as one of the ten existing & recognized languages worldwide. Azeri Turks are first settlers of Iran plateau and their rich civilization dated back to eight thousand years ago.

The dominant religion in Tabriz is Islam but a minority of Christians lives in this city.
