Agriculture

Due to its geographical, political and industrial significance, the city has highly developed road network. It is connected to the Iranian capital through a 619 Kilometers long highway which continues as far as Jolfa on Iran - Azarbaijan Republic border and also connects Iran to Turkey.

Several other major highway connect Tabriz to the capitals and major cities of the neighboring provinces such as Ardebil, Kurdistan and West Azarbaijan. Furthermore, Tehran - Ankara and Tehran - Moscow railway passes through Tabriz. The railway becomes two pronged in Sufian after passing through the cities of Qazvin, Zanjan and Tabriz, one continues to Jolfa and from there to Moscow and the other land Turkey where it joins the European railway network.
