KABOUD OR BLUE MOSQUE
The most notable ancient building of the city is Kaboud (Blue)
Mosque. It has long been renewed for splendor to its blue tile
decoration. because of the blue tiles used in decoration of both
the interior and exterior of the mosque, it has become to be
known as the turquoise of Islam. the mosque , located on Imam
Khomeini avenue, is a unique structure with the magnificent
colors and calligraphy. it dates back to the time of Jahanshah
kara koyunlu and was built in 1456 on the orders of queen Jehan
Beigum. the edific has a high entrance with a lintel decorated
with beautifully designed tiles and calligraphy, two minarets,
dome covered porticos and prayer halls.
