BAZAAR
Its antiquity, commercial importance and spaciousness has made
it one of the largest and most beautiful bazaars of Iran. Its
architectural style, numerous carvanseras, mosques and schools
have added further beauty and importance to this complex. Exact
information on history and origin f the bazaar is not available.
However, historical buildings such as jam mosque, talabieh
school and sadegieh school indicate that the complex is one of
the oldest structures of the city. The present structure of
bazaar dates back to the final years of the zand
dynasty(1750-1779) and qajar dynasty. The carvansaras were built
during the time of abbas mirza of qajar dynasty, the crown
prince, who resided in tabriz. The complex has high brick domes
and arches. It includes sevral small bazaars or bazaarcheh, each
for specific guild and craft such as amir bazaar, sheomakers
bazaar, Rasteh bazaar, cotton carders bazaar, Haji Mohammad
hussein bazaar, moshir bazaar, safi bazaar and Mir abolhassan
bazaar.
