BAZAAR

Its antiquity, commercial importance and spaciousness has made it one of the largest and most beautiful bazaars of Iran. Its architectural style, numerous carvanseras, mosques and schools have added further beauty and importance to this complex. Exact information on history and origin f the bazaar is not available. However, historical buildings such as jam mosque, talabieh school and sadegieh school indicate that the complex is one of the oldest structures of the city. The present structure of bazaar dates back to the final years of the zand dynasty(1750-1779) and qajar dynasty. The carvansaras were built during the time of abbas mirza of qajar dynasty, the crown prince, who resided in tabriz. The complex has high brick domes and arches. It includes sevral small bazaars or bazaarcheh, each for specific guild and craft such as amir bazaar, sheomakers bazaar, Rasteh bazaar, cotton carders bazaar, Haji Mohammad hussein bazaar, moshir bazaar, safi bazaar and Mir abolhassan bazaar.
