ELGOLI (FORMER SHAHGOLI)

Only four kms south of downtown tabriz, it is one of the most pleasant and popular recreation centers of the city. Next to it is an amusement park which makes it more attractive in summer. The park is built on slope of a hill and has a 54,675 square meter pool. A hill in the eastern side of the park leads down to the pool. In the center of the pool there is a grand hexagonal building. The pool is said to have been built during the rule of ak koyunku kings. However, it was extended by the safavids.
During the time of Qahraman Mirza, son of Abbas Mirza of Qajar dynasty, the pool was fundamentally repaired.
